Also known as sodium chloride, salt is one of the main sources of sodium, which is crucial for proper balance of fluids in the body. Salt is added to pet foods to ensure proper supplementation of sodium and chloride, two essential nutrients, and its inclusion levels follow AAFCO guidelines.
Choline is usually supplemented in the form of choline chloride. Choline is a component of cell membranes and is needed for nerve functions in the body. Choline can be produced by most species, but not in enough amounts to ensure the animal needs.
A source of inulin (fructo-oligosaccharide or FOS), a prebiotic fibre that stimulates gut activity and promotes healthy digestion by encouraging growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.
An essential amino acid that is important for healthy skin and coat, eye and heart health.

Available in two different families, tocopherols and tocotrienols, Alpha-tocopherol is the most biologically active of these naturally occurring Vitamin E sources. An important antioxidant, Vitamin E protects fat molecules and fat-soluble vitamins from oxidation. Vitamin E is also involved in membrane protection and it works synergistically with other anti-oxidants, such as Vitamin C and beta-carotene.
This fat-soluble vitamin occurs in the form of Retinol (from animal sources) and vitamin A precursors called carotenoids (from plant sources). Vitamin A is essential for vision, normal growth and tissue differentiation. Its beta-carotene form is also an important anti-oxidant to protect the cells from oxidative damage.
A fat-soluble vitamin, essential for maintaining mineral balance in the body. It is required for proper absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestines, their mobilization from bone and their reabsorption by the kidneys, Vitamin D helps promote normal growth and healthy teeth and bones.
A constituent of coenzyme-A, pantothenic acid is vital for the metabolism of protein, carbohydrate and lipids. It is involved in almost every pathway of energy metabolism. Also essential for the proper function of enzymes involved in synthesis of fatty acids (crucial for skin health).
A precursor for Vitamin A in some species, beta-carotene is responsible for the deep orange colour of some fruits and vegetables, such as carrots. Beta-carotene is also a powerful anti-oxidant that helps with the prevention of cell damage caused by free radicals. It also helps boost the immune system and helps fight the typical signs of aging in pets, such as increased susceptibility to diseases and infections.
A member of the B-vitamin complex. Folic Acid is involved in the synthesis of molecules that comprise DNA, being needed for amino acid metabolism and red blood cells synthesis. Essential for proper growth, optimal functioning of the nervous system and bone marrow.
A water-soluble member of the B-vitamin complex, Biotin is part of several enzyme systems and is needed for growth and various body functions. Essential for the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins, biotin is involved in fatty acid synthesis, energy metabolism and synthesis of amino acids and glucose. Biotin is also a major contributor to the health of the skin and hair.
Vitamin B12 refers to a group of cobalt-containing molecules called cobalamins. Vitamin B12 is needed for normal DNA synthesis, nerve function and protein metabolism. B12 is also needed for red blood cell production and is important in the prevention of anemia.
A source of zinc. Zinc is involved in several biochemical reactions in the body, from protein synthesis to DNA metabolism. Essential for proper growth, healthy skin and coat, zinc also supports proper immune functions and the production of anti-bodies and white blood cells. Zinc proteinate is the chelated form of zinc, or simply zinc bound to a protein fragment, making it more stable and easier for the body to absorb.
Source of iron. Iron is needed for production of red blood cells (hemoglobins), responsible for oxygen transport, and muscle tissue (myoglobins). Iron is also a cofactor in many biochemical reactions.
A source of copper. Copper is crucial for iron absorption, red blood cells activity and integrity of connective tissue. Copper is involved in many biochemical reactions in the body. Copper proteinate is the chelated form of copper, or simply copper bound to a protein fragment, making it more stable and easier for the body to absorb.
A source of manganese. Manganese is involved in many biochemical reactions, such as carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism and fatty acid synthesis. Manganese is crucial for normal growth and normal reproduction. Manganese proteinate is the chelated form of manganese, or simply manganese bound to a protein fragment, making it more stable and easier for the body to absorb.
A building block for joint tissue, supplementation of glucosamine helps prevent joint problems and contributes to healthy cartilage tissue development by encouraging synthesis of new cartilage. Glucosamine is originated from chitin, a compound found in high concentrations in shells of marine crustaceans.
Yucca schidigera helps reduce the incidence of litter box odours due to its naturally occurring saponins, which suppresses ammonia formation in stools and urine, reducing the production of unpleasant smells.
