The humane animal rescue team (hart) is a non-profit organization that rescues stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs from rural areas surrounding Edmonton, including first nations. Their rehabilitation efforts help to organize medical care and training so that these dogs can be placed in furever homes. In addition, hart are advocates of responsible pet ownership, and help to spread awareness of animal cruelty, and the importance of spaying and nueturing initiatives to reduce the number of unwanted litters.

As a registered charity, hart works hard to keep operating costs low, allowing them to assist more animals. They rely on the generosity, skills, and compassion of a volunteer network to provide medical assistance, foster homes, essential supplies, and the bodies needed to respond to calls to help facilitate resuces.  

hart hosts several fund raising events per year to help drive awareness and valuable donations to support their efforts. Sneakers and Strays, their biggest yearly event is a fun run that allows the pet community and local businesses to show support. These events help to not only bring support and donations to hart, but they are fun community events that allow pets and pet owners to get together for a good cause.

HART is more than a dog rescue, they are a staple of Edmonton's pet community. Their dedicated team of volunteers, administrators, and foster homes is passionate about rehabilitating dogs that likely would not survive on their own. They have formed strong bonds with both pet and non-pet businsses that provide support and donations to ensure that hart can continue making a difference.

To Homes Alive Pets, hart has been a loyal and supportive partner that helped lift us up and welcome us into the pet community when we were new to Edmonton. Our partnership has continued to grow over the years and we are proud to work with a team of pet lovers who share our passion and dedication to the well being of pets and pet parents.  

We've seen first hand how hart touches the community. Their supporters are our customers, our staff, and our community. We meet hart rescues, their dedicated fosters, then meet their furever families. We talk to hart supporters everday and we see how these rescued pets go from abandoned and unwanted to spoiled members of a loving family and community.  

We've seen them work closely with others in the pet community to provide support during natural disasters and major events, and go above and beyond to save lives and improve the quality of life of the pets and people in their community.
