The Top Dogs to Bring to Work

Pets can be great at the office! We've rounded up some of the best breeds to bring along with you for the daily grind.

We know how tempting it is to throw caution to the wind every morning and take your pet to the office with you. Everyone there will love them just as much as you do, right? It’s easy to think that they will be much happier by your side all day long, but not all pups are cut out for the 9-5 grind. We break down which pups are perfect desk companions and what you should consider before packing up your pup and bringing them to work.

Pug

Bringing your pug to work will probably make you the most popular person at the office. Not only are they adorable and silly, they’re also great with people and other animals. Pugs don’t need much exercise so you won’t have to worry about getting out of a lunch meeting to go for a walk, they’re easy to groom, and don’t shed too much. Plus, have you seen that face?!

Beagle

Beagles are adorable and are a great choice for an office dog because they love being around people, but are also happy to keep to themselves for long periods at a time. Although they do shed, they’re easy to groom and don’t tend to drool (win!). They’re also well-suited to living in small spaces because they don’t need much exercise, which makes them great for desk companionship all day long.

Poodle

As many of you know, poodles are some of the smartest dogs out there. Not only are they clever and easy to train, they’re also hypoallergenic, which makes them perfect for being around a lot of people. They don’t shed or drool very much either, so bringing your poodle to work won’t result in a mess to clean up at the end of the day. They’re great with people and with other dogs, so if your office has an open-dog policy this breed is perfect!

Great Dane

Okay, okay, let us explain ourselves here. Great danes may not seem like the obvious choice for the perfect office dog because of their size, but everything else about them makes them a great companion at your desk. Although they take up a lot of space, they don’t need much more than that to be comfortable. Plus, they love being by your side so they’ll make sure they’re well-behaved all day so that they can come back tomorrow. As long as your great dane is well-trained, they’ll be happy spending the day with you at the office.

If you’re still not sure whether bringing your pup to work is the best idea, Cesar Millan has some great tips to make sure they’re happy and well-behaved throughout the day. If you’re considering it, just make sure you bring treats and are prepared to take full responsibility for their actions - likely loss of productivity and cuteness overload.
