Vote for Humane Kind: #3 Furry Tales Cat Rescue
Get to know Furry Tales Cat Rescue from Smiths Falls, ON and how they're helping animal welfare ♥️
Vote for Humane Kind Update
In May 2020, Nutram recognized the increasing need for pet shelter funding during the global pandemic. Through our Vote for Humane Kind campaign, we invited you and your community to nominate charitable animal organizations. The top 10 organizations voted by communities across Canada each received $5,000 for everyday care necessities, including vaccinations, spaying or neutering, food and nutritional requirements, and more. Six months later, the recipients have shared with us how you were able to help them reach their goals to support animal welfare.
#3 Furry Tales Cat Rescue
Furry Tales Cat Rescue is a foster-based, 100% volunteer-run organization. We strive to help cats who need urgent care. We take in older and middle-aged cats who have been displaced, abandoned, or at high risk of being euthanized in the overcrowded pound system. We promote low-cost spay/neuter clinics and help stray and surrendered cats in Ottawa and surrounding area. We have helped almost 5000 cats to find their forever homes since opening in 2015.
Meet Charlie. She was found skin and bones on the streets of Lanark in August. Despite being in a rough shape, she took to her fosters right away, purring and letting them brush her would-be beautiful fur, and as soon as she got her energy back, she would jump on the cat tree and watch the world go by from her high spot. Last week, Charlie had to have almost all of her teeth extracted, with only one tooth remaining. She was spayed, and was found to have severe arthritis, especially in her left hip. She is now getting a course of weekly injections, and it’s helping already. She’s up and about on her feet all the time, constantly looking for pets, and is generally a happy kitty. Charlie is now available for adoption. We were able to provide Charlie with the treatment she needed over the past three months thanks to Nutram’s generous donation.
