Vote for Humane Kind Update

In May 2020, Nutram recognized the increasing need for pet shelter funding during the global pandemic. Through our Vote for Humane Kind campaign, we invited you and your community to nominate charitable animal organizations. The top 10 organizations voted by communities across Canada each received $5,000 for everyday care necessities, including vaccinations, spaying or neutering, food and nutritional requirements, and more. The recipients are sharing their stories of how you were able to help them reach their goals to support animal welfare.

#10: SAFE Team Rescue

SAFE Team is a non profit, volunteer run, registered charity that was started in January 2010. Our mission is to educate the public on responsible pet ownership and save kitties from euthanasia in various Alberta shelters. Our objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abused, abandoned, unwanted kitties in our community.  We have had a shelter space since March 2016 and, over the past nearly 11 years, have helped well over 5000 kitties find their forever families! We receive no government funding and rely on community donations and fundraising to do the work we do and we are incredibly grateful to have been one of the winners of the Vote for Humane Kind Contest!

The $5000 SAFE Team was awarded helped us immensely with the Summer 2020 kitten season! With these funds, we were able to provide a second chance to approximately 30 additional kittens by covering the expenses of their much needed medical care and supplies (kittens eat a lot of food!) until they were adopted by their forever families! Saving lives takes a village and we are very thankful to everyone who supports animal rescue and who made this possible! Every Little Soul Counts!
