Food intake may vary according to breed, age, gender, activity level and desired body condition. During the last three weeks of pregnancy, and while nursing, mothers may require up to two to three times their normal daily food intake. Fresh water must be provided at all times. Complete food, no vitamin or mineral supplements are required.
